Scholarships for the College
College can be terribly expensive—there is
no denying that. But the cost shouldn’t stop you from pursuing your dreams and
getting the education you deserve. If you’re really concerned about finances
then scholarships are the route you should take—they can help pay partial or
even your entire tuition, depending on the amount of award money you earn.
However, some students are too shy to apply to academic-based scholarships. That’s
ok too, because there are tons of scholarships that are offered for “unusual”
reasons. To learn more, continue reading below.
Tall Clubs International Student Scholarship
Where you made fun
of in your earlier years because you were the tallest boy or girl in your
class? Your height might actually give you a competitive academic edge now if
you apply for the Kae Sumner
Einfeldt scholarship.
All applicants have to do is write an essay entitled
“What Being Tall Means to Me.
Rules to Apply: Must be 6’2 or taller if
male, 5’10 or taller if female; under the age of 21and about to start first
year of college.

$1,000
*There’s scholarships for
short people too!
Paranormal Activity Scholarship
If you have a huge
interest in going to school to study parapsychology, then the Eileen J.
Garrett Scholarship is
for you. Each year the Parapsychology Foundation awards one lucky applicant
pursuing the field of parapsychology who can thoroughly demonstrate his or her
passion for the paranormal (and lengths he or she has taken to prove its
existence) in essayform.

previous interest of parapsychology through research.

$3,000
Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Place You’ll Go Scholarship
This scholarship, which is awarded by
Random House, Inc. and the Dr. Seuss Estate, is fairly new—last year marked its
third annual scholarship awarded. The trick: it changes every year. What it
does is challenge an applicant’s creativity. The first year students were
required to write a letter to someone who might need inspiration. Last year
students were required to draw a two-dimensional piece of artwork. It hasn’t
been announced what board members will require its applicants to do this year yet, but it’ll
definitely be something that requires imagination. Keep checking the Facebook
page for new deadline dates.
Rules to Apply: Applicants must be seniors in high school, 21
years or under.
Award Amount:
$10,000
American Association of Candy Technologists
Lastly is the
probably the “sweetest” scholarship of the bunch—the John Kitt
Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to those who aspire to study
the confectionery industry.
Rules: Applicants must demonstrate their desire for
candy technology as well as their aspirations to enter the field via food science, chemical science, biological science or a
related area.
Award Amount:
$5,000.
Some of the
scholarships are not yet open yet, so make sure to continue to return to the
websites to learn new deadline dates if they have not yet been posted.
